Great stay in the heart of the Douro Valley
The pool was great, the hotel was modern & stylish and the staff were very friendly. Loved the views and setting. The wine with dinner was very good and reasonably priced.
Some reviewers have noted that it's odd to have a clear glass bathroom door that doesn't offer much privacy. This is true, and is probably the most negative thing about our stay. Others have noted the large high-tension power lines (and towers) that cut across the property and the valley. While they certainly don't add to the scenic beauty, we also didn't find them that objectionable. Still others have mentioned the very narrow road leading in to the hotel. This is true, it is a very narrow road that only allows one or two opportunities for cars to pass one another. However, this is not a high-traffic road - it is essentially only used by hotel guests and there are only 20 rooms in the hotel. I actually found it to be a positive - while my stress-level did increase for the brief time we were on the road, and I don't know what we would have done if we had actually encountered someone going the other way - it was an experience that I'll remember forever about our trip.

Picturesque and tranquil
Modern design, located in the mountains with great views and comfortable bedrooms
Not easily accessible without a car. Parts of he hotel are in need of a refresh (especially bathrooms and external areas). The restaurant food is average based upon our dinner experience and service sometimes disorganised (our breakfast order being served to others).
