The hotel manager was not impolite but was not welcoming or particularly helpful. This set a tone for our visit which was unfortunate. The hotel is small and has only two main course options for dinner: one fish and one meat. We arrived in the late afternoon and wanted to eat there so he arranged for a vegetarian option: frozen diced vegetables with lentils in a sauce, which cost €17 per person. Needless to say we did not eat dinner at the hotel again. I knew that the hotel was out of town and that taxis would be needed to get us anywhere. However I expected that this would mean we were well catered for at the hotel. However, lunch options were extremely limited (described as bar snacks). My vegetarian daughter stayed in the hotel for a day and was able to eat only a single slice of cheese on toast for lunch. Breakfast was similarly disappointing for a hotel of this rating, with only eggs and bacon as hot options, everything else chosen from a limited buffet and not feeling very fresh. I ate eggs one day and their sulforous odour put me off thereafter. I mentioned this to the cook who took no action so far as I was aware. Our room (20) looked fairly recently modernised but was starting to look tatty: marks on the walls, a broken bedside table and bin, a bathroom door that would not close, only one reading light and inadequate air conditioning. I pointed these out to the receptionist on our departure so hopefully they will be fixed. Finally the hotel has several dogs which roam freely outside. We are dog lovers but found it unacceptable that they always jumped up and bit the clothes of passing guests. It was extremely fortunate that our clothes were not damaged during the several occasions when this happened.
